Support Youth Worker – Love Dunston Drop In

You’d be working for Love Dunston, a local charity delivering a new youth-centred project at the Drop In in Dunston, Gateshead and we’re offering you the opportunity to become part of our team, developing and growing our Drop In by delivering challenging, engaging, fun, instructive, supportive work with young people.

You’ll be responsible to the Senior Project Lead and will help deliver high quality face-to-face work with young people, planning and facilitating a range of fun activities, supporting young people to access a range of opportunities and encouraging young people to take on active roles within the community

Ideally you’ll have a demonstrable strong background in building and maintaining relationships with young people, either be interested in/working towards or hold a level 3 in youth or community work, a good knowledge and understanding of other support services and statutory bodies in the Gateshead area, a willingness to engage in continual professional development and an understanding of different funding models in the sector

We’re an equal opportunities employer but this specific role will look to support female service users and is therefore restricted to female applicants under the Equality Act 2010, Schedule 9, Part 1

Initially you’d be working on a commissioned basis (but we plan to move to full employment status in January 2025) for 26 hours per week, including some evening work for a fixed period of six months (this will be extended to 12 months subject to successful funding bids). We’re offering £14 per hour, very flexible working opportunities, pro rata 28 days annual leave including Bank Holidays, professional development and training opportunities
